Dragon Duathlon is a unique extreme duathlon event, held in 2016 for the first time. Participants will travel the length of Wales non-stop, riding coast to coast while tackling the Welsh 3 Peaks by foot. Participants will aim to complete the event in under 24hrs.
Over a total of 7 legs, individuals or pairs in a relay format will travel point to point, covering close to 300 kilometres. All cycle sections will be on road, where as the foot sections will be all off-road.
Participants will be given the route on GPX and will be required to navigate themselves. The route will only use well surfaced roads and well used off-road mountain paths when on foot. There will not be any direction markers used.
Each participant or relay team will be required to have at least one dedicated supporter & support vehicle. The supporter will be responsible for carrying participants kit & supplies, including the bike on run sections. The supporter will also be responsible for their participant/team safety, including being able to provide transport in the event of a participant failing to finish. In essence participants will need to be self-supported, the only support available is what each support crew is able to provide and what is within the rules. Full details of each check-point, including directions and lat/long positions will be given to supporters to ensure they are easy to reach using a basic car sat-nav.
Each individual, team and supporter will be required to carry mandatory kit.
